The Power of Forgiveness

The most powerful tool in the arsenal of mankind is forgiveness. Forgiveness requires the most noble of human traits: humility, unselfishness, love, and grace. It is the most rewarding and beneficial act we are capable of; it will keep peace, or put out a burning fire in our hearts.

It is also healthy to forgive, there is no emotion more devastating to the human mind, or body than anger; it will literally weaken your mental and physical capabilities. Antithetically, forgiveness offers peace of mind, strength, and power over any given situation.

Forgiveness is the purest form of love; whereas, malevolence is a wasted emotion. It does nothing to enrich your life, and it has the potential to harm or effect another.

Forgiveness is directly related to our freedom and peace of mind; to hold a grudge against someone for transgressions, is to shackle yourself to the denomination of mortal flesh. We must reach for a higher plain.

"The weak can never forgive, forgiveness is the attribute of the strong" - Mahatma Gandhi

This statement is very true; It takes a strong person to forgive. To forgive another, you must overcome your pride; this can sometimes be man's greatest challenge. Unforgiveness can bring sickness to the heart, and spirit; forgiveness can strengthen both. Anger and resentment are traps, layed at the door of wise men, if his heart is not well fed, his wisdom will be lost.

"By taking revenge, a man is but even with his enemy; but in passing over it, he is superior." - Roger Bacon

So much can be learned from this quote. By harboring anger toward another, you give that person a place in the center of your life; in that way it is they, who have power over you. Learning to forgive is the single most important of life's lessons. My advice is simple: Let it go!! Take control of your emotions, thereby taking control of your life.
