Up or Down Vote: Good or Bad for the Country?

Out of the White House Sunday; came the call for a "simple up or down" vote. This has been speculated by the major news networks; since the seven- hour televised "health care summit" ended, Thursday evening. Speaker Nancy Pelosi is encouraging democrats to get behind the health care bill; even at the risk of losing seats in the upcoming elections.

White House health reform director, Nancy-Ann DeParle  supports a, simple majority vote; to pass the president's  largest domestic initiative to date, stating: "We're not  talking about changing any rules here, all the president's  talking about is: Do we need to address this problem  and does it make sense to have a, simple up-or-down   vote on whether or not we want to fix these problems?"

If this bill does pass, it will do so without any bi-partisan support. Whether or not the democrats have the 51 votes required to pass the bill through senate is anybody's guess; however, the bill's most vocal proponents seem optimistic. It appears the democrats plan to push through this health care bill; no matter the economic, or political fall-out.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi has this to say about the matter " we're not here just to self- perpetuate our service in congress, we're here to do the job for the American people." Does the speaker not realize, how polarizing this topic has become, in the minds of the american people? It's as if she's standing there telling us; you all don't know what's best for you; your republican representatives don't know what's best for you, and like it or not 52 people on capital hill are going to ram this, down the throat of the American people.

Yet, the "Kennedy health care bill" was written in to the, "senate health care bill," ensuring congress will be 100% exempt. So under this plan, Americans will be mandated to enroll in "qualified" health plans, and submit proof to the government. Yet politicians will keep their "Cadillac" plans; they, themselves have demonized so many Americans for having. Can you believe the hypocricy coming from these people?

So where does the president stand on healthcare?

This is a violation of personal freedom. This is not what's best for the American people; this is a forced take-over of 1/6th of the U.S. economy by 52 people on capital hill. This is a well orchestrated strategy; on the part of those in power, to create more government dependancy, in the long term.

Think about it folks; if this "health care reform" was widely believed to be what's best for the American people; Nancy Pelosi, and, the gang wouldn't be up there in Washington, sporting "eeny meeny miny moe" with who's going to be playing "roulette" with their senate seat.

Worse case, this is a path to socialism; best case, it's elitism, either way it's a slippery slope, and a further invasion into our personal liberties. If we continue down this path; we are headed for an awful awakening. Our desire to escape personal responsibility, will have us economically enslaved; with no leverage to regain our personal, economic, or civil liberties.
