Shady Tactics

Tea Party Heroes

The senate democrats can't get the support required to pass the controversial "Health Care Reform" bill. First they attempted to pass the bill by a simple majority vote; that was a failed attempt; now they want to pass the bill without even voting on it. "This is shady business to say the least."

Fact of the matter is, we are talking about major reform on a huge portion of the American economy (1/6th) we need to find solutions that can be backed by at least the 216 votes needed to pass it, without any tricks.

The American people are tired of all the shady tactics, and long for a time of honest people seeking honest solutions. In my humble opinion; for democrats, this bill has more to do with power grabbing, than insuring Americans.

Without a doubt, this bill would give the federal government power over American lives that has never been seen before. There are other solutions for controlling the cost of health care, and make no mistake about it; although this has been coined a "health care crisis" there really is no crisis in health care. The problem we are facing is the cost.

Many Americans can't afford health care; this was realized long ago, and safety nets were put in place. Federal and state programs like Medicare and Medicaid were meant to provide coverage to people, unable to obtain their own. My question is, why not overhaul these programs to cover those that are now without health care coverage?

I believe the answer is simple: This measure wouldn't give the federal government control of another 16% of the american economy. Take a look at the things that have been taking place as of late; the federal government has been actively buying up portions of the economy, then proceeding to regulate those portions.

If you don't believe these moves push us closer to a socialized nation, I'm not sure what signs are needed.

Back room deals and buying votes from the representatives of some states, to be paid for by the efforts of others is not the political process our founders intended. This bill needs to be stopped. If for no other reason except it has in-and-of itself completely polarized this nation.

Let's work on a bill that can find bi-partisan support in both houses of congress; one that would allow benefits to those less fortunate; while providing an opt-out for those satisfied with their current coverage.

This is a very important issue, and solutions for cost control must be found; however, the current approach is risky, doesn't go into place for several years, but most importantly, it's unsustainable.
